Importance Of Regular Checks In Restaurant Kitchens

There are many features of a restaurant that make it great- the food, the music and the ambience. But one factor that is often overlooked (but probably the most important) is the cleanliness of the restaurant. Hygiene practices are important because if a person falls ill due to the unsanitary conditions or contaminated food in a restaurant, it could quickly make you the most unpopular eatery in town. A few years ago, Chipotle faced legal charges when a Salmonella outbreak caused customers to fall ill. This is why regulatory authorities have made restaurant checks mandatory in recent years. In India the Food Safety and Sanitary Authority of India (FSSAI) regulates the management, storage and distribution of food.

In many schools, food poisoning among students is commonplace and is not something that should be taken lightly as it can be fatal. Very often this is a result of the meat not being cooked at the right temperature, leading to the formation of bacteria. In light of the food contamination, many institutions make it a point to educate the workers on proper hygiene practices. Furthermore, regulatory authorities make regular (sometimes random) visits to schools and restaurants to ensure that the workers comply with the hygiene practices. In some countries, restaurants that don’t follow the cleanliness code are forced to pay heavy fines and may even be forced to shut down.

Eating out often has become a norm for many of us and restaurant hygiene checks help ensure that we are eating food prepared in the most sanitary conditions. A study published by the world health organization says that food that contains harmful bacteria, viruses and chemical substances is known to cause more than 200 diseases. That scary statistic is one of the reasons why health checks have become a necessity in the last few years.
