AHPI Celebrated Dr Prathap Reddy Of Apollo As The Icon Of The Century In Chennai

The theme, "Empowering and Developing Healthcare Leaders", is important for the growth of the healthcare sector that is seeing an increasing impact on outcomes and a need for efficiency in management. 

 

Dr Kiran Bedi, former Lt. Governor of Puducherry was the chief guest at this summit and she spoke about the difference between "Command & Control" versus "Management". She said that leaders must be hungry, hungry about what they saw today, what they learnt today, what they could change today and also what they could make better today. 

 

The day was also special as AHPI conferred the title of "The Icon Of The Century" on Dr. Prathap C Reddy, the founder of Apollo Hospitals, the first commercial hospital chain in the country. Dr Reddy could not attend the function in person, and the honour was received by his eldest daughter and the Vice Chairperson of Apollo Hospitals on behalf of Dr Prathap Reddy. She shared moments from the past that she observed from her father's journey of building Apollo. 

 

The day was filled with powerful sessions with leaders from the industry including Dr Vijay Agarwal - President of CAHO who spoke on navigating complex systems, Dr Harsh Mahajan, Founder of Mahajan Imaging, who spoke on his journey of becoming an entrepreneur, Dr J Radhakrishnan from Government of Tamil Nadu who shared the lessons learnt from Covid era and Lt. Gen (Dr) Madhuri Kanitkar, Vice Chancellor of MUHS, who spoke on Universal Health Coverage among many other esteemed speakers. 

 

The event was organised by the Tamil Nadu chapter of AHPI.
