Apollo Clinic Launches Nationwide Vaccination Campaign To Combat Monsoon Diseases

Apollo Clinic, a multi-specialty clinic chain in India, has launched a nationwide vaccination campaign aimed at tackling monsoon-related diseases and illnesses. 

In a press statement on Monday, the healthcare provider said that this initiative will see the clinic chain offering a comprehensive package of 10 vaccinations and 10 tests designed to address issues commonly arising during the monsoon season. The campaign aims to reach over [number] patients across Apollo Clinic's 102 locations, the statement added.

An Apollo Clinic spokesperson stated, “Every year, the monsoon season brings a surge in diseases such as dengue, malaria, influenza, and seasonal flu. These outbreaks result in a significant increase in patient visits and disrupt daily life. In response, we are launching this campaign to alleviate the burden of these illnesses and improve the well-being of our patients throughout the season.”

Monsoon season in India is frequently marked by a rise in diseases like dengue, malaria, typhoid, and seasonal flu. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), India is among the top 30 countries most affected by dengue. Additionally, the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reports that diseases such as typhoid, dengue, malaria, scrub typhus, and influenza have become pressing public health concerns. Annually, typhoid affects approximately 4.5 million people in India, resulting in around 9,000 deaths.

In response, Apollo Clinic's campaign, which commenced this month, offers a range of services including consultations, lab investigations, and radiology tests for common monsoon illnesses such as viral fever, influenza, and stomach infections. The clinics will also provide immunisations against vaccine-preventable diseases and comprehensive fever testing packages for conditions like Dengue, Malaria, Typhoid, and Chikungunya. The Fever panel includes tests such as Complete Blood Count, Malarial Antigen, Widal Test, Complete Urine Examination, Dengue IgM & IgG, Dengue NS1 Antigen, and Typhidot – IgM, among others.

This health package will be available at all Apollo Clinics until August 31, 2024. Patients can book appointments online via the clinic's website, by phone, or by visiting a nearby clinic, the healthcare  provider stated.
