"The Pink Book" offers a thorough guide to establishing and maintaining safety across hospital settings, focusing on protocols to protect staff, patients, and visitors

Apollo Hospitals has introduced "The Pink Book"—a comprehensive safety framework aimed at enhancing healthcare protocols.

In a press statement on Thursday, the healthcare services provider informed that "The Pink Book" offers a thorough guide to establishing and maintaining safety across hospital settings, focusing on protocols to protect staff, patients, and visitors. The book underscores the critical role of a robust safety culture in healthcare, setting a new benchmark for industry standards.

During the launch,  Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director of Apollo Hospitals, emphasised the growing need for a solid safety foundation within the healthcare ecosystem. She stated: "At Apollo Hospitals, our commitment to patient safety has been unwavering for over four decades. With 'The Pink Book,' we aim to not only strengthen safety protocols within Apollo but also provide a roadmap for the entire healthcare ecosystem. This book encapsulates the wealth of knowledge we've gathered in our journey and is designed to benefit everyone in the healthcare industry."

The Pink Book highlights the importance of comprehensive safety measures, with a particular focus on women. It details stringent government regulations and enforces a zero-tolerance policy against harassment. Leadership commitment, staff training, and open communication are all emphasised as key to fostering a positive safety culture.

Recommendations in the book include managing high-risk patients, enhancing security through the use of panic buttons and surveillance, improving ergonomic workspaces, and supporting staff working night shifts. Additional measures include advocating for self-defense training, mental health support, adherence to legal provisions, and creating reporting platforms in compliance with the POSH Act.
