Aster DM Healthcare, an integrated healthcare provider in India, has launched two groundbreaking facilities at Aster MIMS Calicut: a Pediatric Emergency Department and a Geriatric Emergency Department.
In a press statement on Wednesday, the company informed that these specialised departments were unveiled on 07 August 2024, with the ceremonies led by Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder and Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare.
These new departments are the first of their kind in Kerala, designed to offer specialised care tailored to the needs of children and the elderly. The Pediatric Emergency Department features an 8-bedded facility, equipped with advanced amenities and staffed round-the-clock by dedicated pediatricians. The Geriatric Emergency Department includes a 10-bedded area, managed by experts in geriatric medicine with joint oversight from Emergency Medicine and General Medicine departments.
Dr. Azad Moopen emphasised the significance of these new services, stating, “Aster MIMS Calicut is at the forefront of providing advanced healthcare solutions and is recognised globally for its excellence. With these new Pediatric and Geriatric Emergency Departments, we aim to address the unique medical needs of different age groups, ensuring that patients receive the most appropriate care. Looking ahead, Dr. Moopen outlined plans for significant expansion, stating, “By FY27, we plan to add 1,700 beds across our network, including new projects in Kerala such as Aster Capital Trivandrum and Aster MIMS Kasargod. Our flagship Aster Medcity will also expand to over 950 beds. In Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, we will increase capacity at Aster CMI and Aster Ramesh.”
