Charnock Hospital has taken a significant leap in healthcare delivery by launching ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) services and inaugurating a second Cath Lab in Newtown. This development marks a milestone in providing advanced critical and cardiac care to the region.
ECMO, a life-support technology that temporarily replaces heart and lung functions for critically ill patients, is now available in Newtown for the first time, addressing a crucial healthcare need. The hospital’s second Cath Lab is equipped with cutting-edge technologies such as HD IVUS, FFR/DFR, and ROTAPRO, significantly enhancing its ability to handle complex cardiac procedures, including angiograms and angioplasties.
With over 400 procedures performed monthly and more than 5,000 annually, the hospital boasts a record of "zero" on-table mortality, solidifying its position as a leader in cardiac care.
Prashant Sharma, Managing Director of Charnock Hospital, emphasised the importance of the new facilities, stating, "The introduction of ECMO at Charnock Hospital is a groundbreaking step in our critical care capabilities. This advanced technology provides vital support to patients experiencing severe heart and lung failure, offering them the best possible chance of recovery when conventional treatments fall short. We are proud to be the first to bring this life-saving service to Newtown, reaffirming our commitment to delivering the highest standard of care and expanding access to advanced medical treatments."
The inauguration event saw participation from leading medical professionals and highlighted Charnock Hospital's dedication to setting new benchmarks in healthcare delivery.
