Dr. Raj Nagarkar Joins Cambridge Medical Robotics’ Global Advisory Board

He has become the first Indian oncologist to join the Advisory Board of Cambridge Medical Robotics (CMR).

Dr. Raj Nagarkar, MD and Chief of Surgical Oncology & Robotic Services at HCG Manavata Cancer Centre (HCGMCC), has become the first  Indian oncologist to join the Advisory Board of Cambridge Medical Robotics (CMR). 

With this prestigious appointment, Dr. Nagarkar aims to advocate for accessible and affordable robotic surgery solutions in India. During his two-year tenure, Dr. Nagarkar will contribute to shaping the future of surgical technology, with a specific focus on enhancing patient outcomes through advanced robotic techniques. He is set to attend the Global Advisory Board meeting later this month in Cambridge, where the latest developments in robotic surgery will be discussed.

A renowned surgical oncologist with over 23 years of experience, Dr. Nagarkar has performed more than 65,000 surgeries and treated over 2,50,000 cancer patients. He also holds a world record for conducting over 1,100 successful robotic surgeries.

"It is a privilege and honour to join CMR’s advisory board. I am excited to represent India in advancing surgical technology and making it more accessible to patients. The upcoming discussions will include innovations in robotics, education for both doctors and patients and collaboration with engineers to improve surgical systems," Dr. Nagarkar remarked.

CMR Surgical, a UK-based firm, is known for its cutting-edge robotic surgical system, Versius. Founded in 2014, the company is committed to making robotic-assisted surgeries more precise, flexible, and affordable. CMR currently has over 40 installations of Versius in India, with plans to further expand its presence to meet the growing demand for tech-driven healthcare.
