Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital (SCEH), one of India’s oldest eye care institutions, in partnership with EssilorLuxottica, a global leader in ophthalmic lenses and frames, has launched the Myopia Centre of Excellence in Delhi. The initiative aims to combat myopia progression in children using cutting-edge lens technology and comprehensive care.
EssilorLuxottica’s revolutionary Essilor Stellest lens, powered by H.A.L.T. technology, plays a pivotal role in slowing myopia progression by 67 per cent on average when worn for 12 hours a day. This advanced technology will be integrated into the newly inaugurated Myopia Centre, combining EssilorLuxottica’s optical innovations with SCEH’s clinical expertise.
Narasimhan Narayanan, President of EssilorLuxottica South Asia, emphasised the significance of this collaboration, stating, “At EssilorLuxottica, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of vision technology and improving the lives of children affected by myopia. Partnering with Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital allows us to leverage their extensive clinical experience and create a truly patient-centric approach to myopia management.”
The Myopia Centre of Excellence will provide a holistic approach to managing the condition, offering services such as detection, education, counselling, dispensing, and follow-up care. The centre is supported by a team of renowned ophthalmologists and optometrists specialising in myopia management, ensuring personalised treatment plans for each child and regular monitoring of their progress.
Dr. Umang Mathur, CEO of Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “With the increasing prevalence of myopia, this initiative is crucial for addressing a significant public health issue. Our shared vision is to provide young patients with advanced, evidence-based treatments while actively contributing to ground-breaking myopia research. I extend my gratitude to EssilorLuxottica for their support in making this vision a reality.”
The centre will also focus on advancing myopia research through scientific publications and collaborations with leading academic institutions and industry partners. By integrating advanced diagnostic tools, personalised care, and innovative solutions, the Myopia Centre of Excellence is set to redefine myopia management and treatment in India.
