Emcure Pharmaceuticals, an Indian pharmaceutical company with a diversified product portfolio, signed a 22.78 MWp DC Solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Sunsure Energy, a prominent renewable power producer in India.
The company in a press statement on Friday said that the partnership will provide Emcure and its subsidiary, Gennova Biopharmaceuticals, with approximately 36 million units of clean, renewable energy annually for their Pune plants. This initiative is expected to meet around 67 per cent of the power requirements for these plants with green energy, offsetting 29,765.71 metric tons of CO2 annually.
In addition to the PPA, Emcure and Gennova have signed a Shareholders Agreement to acquire a stake in Sunsure Solarpark Twelve , facilitating the purchase of solar power under a group captive scheme as per the Electricity Act, 2023, and applicable rules.
The agreement with Sunsure Energy, which will supply power from its 150 MWp DC solar plant in Solapur, Maharashtra, is a significant step forward in Emcure’s commitment to integrating sustainability into its operations and minimising its environmental impact.
