HaystackAnalytics Launches World’s First Comprehensive Test For Bacterial, Fungal, & Viral Infections

The single-test solution now enables clinicians to detect major RNA viruses such as Influenza strains, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), and Adenovirus, alongside bacterial and fungal pathogens, all through a single-test

HaystackAnalytics, a leader in genomics-based diagnostics, has unveiled a groundbreaking development with the expansion of its infexn test, making it the world’s first comprehensive test to detect bacterial, fungal, and respiratory RNA viral infections using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS).

In a press statement on Wednesday, the company informed that this single-test solution now enables clinicians to detect major RNA viruses such as Influenza strains, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), and Adenovirus, alongside bacterial and fungal pathogens, all through a single test.

The infexn test has been instrumental in improving diagnostic precision and speed, particularly in infectious disease management. By expanding the test to include RNA viruses, HaystackAnalytics offers a robust tool for clinicians worldwide, enabling a more accurate diagnosis without the need for separate tests for specific infections. This is particularly beneficial in regions like India, where infectious diseases such as COVID-19, influenza, and RSV continue to pose serious public health challenges.

“By adding key RNA viruses to the already comprehensive NGS-based infexn test, we remain among the few deep-tech startups working towards judicious antibiotic use and faster treatment outcomes,” said Dr. Anirvan Chatterjee, Co-Founder of HaystackAnalytics.

Dr. Mahua Dasgupta Kapoor, Director of Medical Affairs (Infectious Diseases) at HaystackAnalytics, added, “Our expanded infexn™ test empowers clinicians to make timely, precise decisions, especially during respiratory viral outbreaks that can complicate bacterial or fungal infections.”

The infexn™ test, developed in India, delivers results within 24 hours and offers a critical tool in identifying rare and difficult-to-culture organisms.
