IPA To Host 9th Global Pharmaceutical Quality Summit Focusing On Patient Centricity

The theme for this year’s event is "Advances in Manufacturing and Quality – Patient Centricity."

The Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance (IPA) in a press statement on Thursday, announced the Ninth edition of the Global Pharmaceutical Quality Summit to be held on 27-28 June 2024 in Mumbai. 

The theme for this year’s event is "Advances in Manufacturing and Quality – Patient Centricity." The two-day flagship summit will delve into how the industry can leverage technology to enhance pharmaceutical operations and manufacturing for the next decade.

The press statement further informed that Nilesh Gupta, Chair of the Quality Forum at IPA and Managing Director of Lupin, will inaugurate the Summit. Attendees will include stakeholders from the government, industry, and global experts. The event will feature the release of a report titled “Shaping the Next Decade of Indian Pharmaceutical Manufacturing,” the statement added.

Key global regulators such as DCGI, USFDA, MHRA, and WHO, alongside industry leaders, academia, and experts, will share their insights on quality management and regulatory updates. The summit promises to provide in-depth perspectives on the evolving landscape of pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Topics at the Summit will include the Future of Pharma Operations, Cybersecurity, the Use of AI in Pharmaceutical Quality and Operations, Opportunities in Biopharma, and Smart Operations. Participants will gain insights into current focus areas such as Quality Management Maturity Models, Data and Documentation Imperatives, and Talent Capability Building. Guidance documents on Good Engineering Practices and Process Analytical Technology (PAT) in oral solids and API will also be released.

Sudarshan Jain, Secretary General of the Indian Pharmaceutical Alliance, emphasised the transformative era in the Indian pharmaceutical industry marked by advancements such as continuous manufacturing, green chemistry, and 3D printing, all while prioritising patient-centricity. He highlighted the importance of focusing on patient needs in design and manufacturing to solidify India’s position as "The Pharmacy of the World."

The knowledge partner for the Summit is McKinsey & Company. The event’s most anticipated session is a panel discussion with industry leaders from leading pharma companies, focusing on charting the next decade of pharmaceutical operations and manufacturing.
