Max Super Speciality Hospital Patparganj joined the global effort to observe World Lung Cancer Day, focusing on raising awareness, promoting early detection, and supporting ongoing lung cancer research. 

In a press statement on Thursday, the hospital informed that in order to mark the occasion, Max Super Speciality Hospital Patparganj organised a series of events designed to educate and engage the community including an informative Health Talk and an engaging Zumba session, both aimed at raising awareness and promoting overall wellness.

Praveen Kumar Pandey, Senior Director of Pulmonology, and  Narendra Agarwal, Associate Director of Thoracic Surgery at Max Super Speciality Hospital Patparganj, addressed the health talk. Pandey emphasised the importance of preventive measures: “Preventing lung cancer involves a multifaceted approach including lifestyle changes, environmental awareness, and regular medical check-ups. Key strategies include avoiding tobacco smoke, minimising exposure to carcinogens, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and staying on top of regular screenings. World Lung Cancer Day provides a crucial opportunity for us to reflect on our progress in lung cancer research and treatment, while also acknowledging the ongoing challenges. Our goal is to offer valuable resources and support, encourage preventive actions, and work towards more effective management of this disease.”

Agarwal highlighted the significance of early detection stating, “Early detection is of utmost importance in the ongoing fight against lung cancer, as it significantly enhances the chances of successful treatment and improves overall survival rates. On World Lung Cancer Day, it is essential to emphasise that early detection remains a cornerstone in the global fight against this devastating disease. Timely identification of lung cancer not only increases the likelihood of effective treatment but also significantly improves patient outcomes and survival rates. As we observe this day, let us renew our commitment to advancing research, raising awareness, supporting screening programs and identifying possible risk factors that can make a possibility of detecting early and treating and giving complete cure to those affected by lung cancer around the world.”
