Milann Fertility Center, an IVF facility in Bengaluru, has unveiled "Milann's Embrace: Bridging Gaps in Breastfeeding Care" in celebration of World Breastfeeding Week, observed from August 1-7.
In a press statement on Friday, the healthcare service provider said that the initiative aligns with the theme "Closing the Gap" and is aimed at enhancing access to breastfeeding resources, education, and support, especially for marginalised communities.
Milann's Embrace is focused on advocating for better breastfeeding policies, improving healthcare provider training, and strengthening support systems in hospitals and workplaces. The campaign seeks to raise awareness about the social, economic, and cultural barriers to effective breastfeeding and aims to address these challenges comprehensively.
Breastfeeding is essential for combating child malnutrition and provides critical nutrients and antibodies necessary for infant growth. It also promotes a strong mother-child bond, supports immunity, and contributes to better cognitive and academic outcomes. For mothers, breastfeeding aids in postpartum recovery, reduces bleeding, and supports uterine contraction, while offering long-term health benefits such as a lower risk of breast and ovarian cancers.
Dr. Payel Biswas Soo, Holistic Perinatal and Lactation Specialist at Milann Fertility Center emphasises the importance of supportive care during this period. “Creating a nurturing environment can significantly impact both the mother and baby’s well-being. It is crucial to offer emotional support, celebrate achievements, and ensure physical comfort for the breastfeeding mother. By addressing her needs thoughtfully, we help foster a positive breastfeeding experience,” she said.
