Philips, a global leader in health technology, and Narayana Institute of Cardiac Sciences (NICS), a cardiac care institution, celebrated the first anniversary of their ELiTE (Experience Learning and Training in Echocardiography) program.
In its first year, this initiative, a first-of-its-kind dedicated Center of Excellence (CoE) for Echocardiography training in India, has successfully trained over 200 healthcare professionals, including cardiologists, physicians, intensivists, and sonographers.
Under the guidance of Satish Govind, a leading figure in non-invasive cardiology, the ELiTE program spans 136 training hours and offers nine modules covering key specialities such as adult and pediatric echo, critical care (POCUS), and fetal echo. Participants receive hands-on training with Philips' state-of-the-art ultrasound systems and software, enhancing their diagnostic skills and patient care capabilities. After completing each module, the Karnataka Medical Council grants clinicians certification and medical council credits.
Sachin Grover, Head of Ultrasound at Philips Indian Subcontinent, expressed pride in the program’s achievements, highlighting its significant impact on increasing access to quality healthcare in India. Dr. Satish Govind emphasised the program's role in empowering clinicians, establishing standards, and ensuring accurate diagnoses, especially in light of India’s cardiovascular disease burden.
This initiative is part of Philips' broader commitment to upskilling healthcare professionals in India, aiming to improve patient outcomes through innovative education and advanced technology.
