Regency Healthcare Performs Robotic-Assisted Surgery To Cure Recurring Hernia In CRPF Officer

Regency Healthcare in Kanpur conducted a  Robotic Abdominal Wall Reconstruction surgery to successfully treat a 40-year-old woman CRPF officer suffering from a persistent hernia recurrence. 

In a press statement on Wednesday, the healthcare services provider informed that Abhimanyu Kapoor, Head and Consultant Surgical Gastroenterologist, led the complex procedure using advanced Da Vinci technology.

The patient had previously undergone multiple surgeries, including open procedures aimed at addressing hernia recurrences following an initial ovarian tumour removal surgery. Despite these efforts, the hernia continued to pose a significant health challenge.

Kapoor highlighted the significance of robotic-assisted surgery in such intricate cases, stating, “Our primary goal was to provide a minimally invasive solution that would ensure quicker recovery and minimal scarring, crucial for a patient eager to resume duty. The robotic approach facilitated precise retrorectus hernia repair and posterior component separation with TAR, effectively addressing the complex abdominal wall defect.”

Traditional surgical methods often lead to complications like recurrent hernias or infections due to larger incisions or placement of surgical mesh. However, with the Da Vinci robotic system, surgeons benefit from enhanced precision and minimal invasiveness, reducing the risk of such complications and accelerating post-operative recovery.

Reflecting on her experience, the patient expressed gratitude for the swift recovery facilitated by the advanced robotic technology. “Despite enduring multiple surgeries previously, my hernia persisted. Abhimanyu Kapoor and his team at Regency Healthcare guided me through the benefits of robotic-assisted surgery, allowing me to return to work within days of the procedure,” she remarked.
