Sahyadri Hospitals has launched Asia’s first TomoTherapy Radixact X9 system equipped with the groundbreaking VitalHold technology.
In a press statement on Wednesday, the company informed that this advanced radiotherapy system promises to revolutionise cancer treatment by offering unparalleled precision and accuracy, particularly for tumours affected by patient motion.
The Radixact X9, already renowned for its versatility, is now enhanced with VitalHold, which leverages Deep Inspiration Breath Hold (DIBH) techniques to stabilise tumour positioning. This innovation is crucial for cancers in the thoracic region, such as lung and breast cancers, where precise targeting is essential. The system’s real-time adaptation ensures that radiation is delivered accurately while minimising exposure to healthy tissues.
Sanjay Hunugundmath, Lead Radiation Oncologist at Sahyadri Hospitals, explained, "The Radixact X9 with VitalHold technology sets a new standard in precision cancer care. It uses millions of laser points for accurate positioning and continuous monitoring, significantly improving treatment accuracy and efficiency."
A standout feature of the Radixact X9 is the Auto Beam Hold, which pauses radiation delivery if the patient moves beyond the tolerance limit during treatment, enhancing both safety and precision. The system’s Clarity Imaging Technology provides high-definition images with improved soft tissue contrast, allowing for more precise tumour localisation. The helical kVCT imaging method ensures rapid, high-resolution image acquisition, reducing the potential for patient movement and image artefacts.
