In a groundbreaking collaboration with the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), Skye Air, a leader in drone logistics, is launching drone-powered healthcare delivery at five AIIMS facilities across India. This initiative, part of a major health sector expansion led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, underscores the role of advanced technology in reaching remote and underserved regions with critical healthcare services.
In a press statement on Tuesday, the company said that the government’s expanded Ayushman Bharat scheme, recently launched with a project outlay exceeding Rs 12,850 crore, aims to enhance healthcare accessibility nationwide. Skye Air’s drone-enabled logistics play a pivotal role in this initiative, bringing healthcare services directly to AIIMS locations in Jodhpur, Patna, Deoghar, Manipur, and Mangalagiri.
Ankit Kumar, CEO of Skye Air, expressed the significance of integrating drone technology with public healthcare. “As the Ayushman Bharat Scheme expands, Skye Air is proud to spearhead drone-enabled healthcare logistics at key AIIMS facilities. This project is a major step in bridging healthcare gaps, especially in underserved areas. By using drones, we ensure timely access to medical supplies, lifesaving medicines, and essential healthcare services for millions under the PMJAY scheme,” Kumar stated.
In regions where difficult terrain and limited infrastructure create logistical challenges, Skye Air’s drones provide an innovative solution. The drones, including Skye Air’s StarLiner and Artemis models equipped with temperature-controlled boxes, enable rapid transportation of essential medical items, improving both the quality and timeliness of patient care. Capable of carrying significant loads, these drones are specifically designed to meet the unique demands of healthcare logistics, offering resilience and reliability.
This integration of drone technology with the PMJAY initiative advances healthcare equity, supporting underserved and rural populations by bringing critical medical resources to their doorstep. The project’s success positions Skye Air’s model as a potential blueprint for other healthcare facilities seeking efficient logistics solutions.
As the Ayushman Bharat program and other healthcare initiatives evolve, drone technology promises to transform medical supply chains, making healthcare delivery faster, more efficient, and accessible to those who need it most.
