SS Innovations Unveils SSI Mantra 3, Achieves Historic Telesurgery Trial

Adding to the momentum, SS Innovations welcomed Dr Fredric Moll, the esteemed founder of Intuitive Surgical and widely regarded as the father of surgical robotics, to its Board of Directors as Vice Chairman

In a press note on Thursday, SS Innovations announced the launch of SSI Mantra 3, the most advanced version of its indigenous surgical robotic system. This milestone event also marked India’s first successful human trial in telesurgery, underscoring the nation’s emerging prominence in healthcare innovation.

The press note further informed SS Innovations welcomed Dr Fredric Moll, the esteemed founder of Intuitive Surgical and widely regarded as the father of surgical robotics, to its Board of Directors as Vice Chairman.

The SSI Mantra 3 integrates advancements in robotic surgery, providing surgeons with unprecedented precision and control, thereby enhancing patient outcomes. It features five slimmer robotic arms, an immersive 3D HD headset for surgeons, and a vision cart that offers 3D 4K vision to the entire surgical team. This cost-effective system aims to make advanced surgical technologies more accessible globally.

SS Innovations successfully conducted India’s first human telesurgery trial using the SSI Mantra Surgical Robot. This robotic cholecystectomy, performed over a distance of five kilometres between the World Laparoscopy Hospital and the SSI Headquarters, demonstrated seamless connectivity with Airtel’s fibre optic network. This breakthrough signifies a major advancement in providing quality healthcare to remote areas, aligning with the Make in India initiative by showcasing indigenous innovation on a global stage.

Dr Sudhir Srivastava, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of SS Innovations, expressed his pride in this achievement: "With the launch of SSI Mantra 3 and the successful completion of India's first human trial in soft tissue telesurgery, we reaffirm our commitment to driving advanced innovation and accessibility in robotic surgeries. Dr Sudhir K Rawal, Medical Director and Chief of GnitoUro-Oncology Services at RGCIRC, said,  "The ease of using the Mantra system is phenomenal, which is why it is gaining traction beyond borders."
