Fortis Escorts Heart Institute Unveils Dedicated Aorta Centre For Comprehensive Aortic Disease Care

The centre will provide a wide range of services, including surgical interventions, endovascular procedures, radiological diagnosis, and hybrid interventions

Fortis Escorts Heart Institute in Okhla has launched a dedicated Aorta Centre, offering comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for aortic diseases.

In a press statement on Friday, the institute informed that the centre will provide a wide range of services, including surgical interventions, endovascular procedures, radiological diagnosis, and hybrid interventions. It will be operational seven days a week, with dedicated outpatient clinics on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in the afternoons.

The Aorta Centre was inaugurated by Chief Guest Shri Manoj Tiwari, Lok Sabha MP and Bhojpuri actor-singer, in the presence of Anil Vinayak, Group Chief Operating Officer, Fortis Healthcare, and other senior dignitaries. Speaking at the launch, Manoj Tiwari praised the institute, stating, "Fortis Escorts Heart Institute has consistently led the way in revolutionising cardiac care by integrating advanced technologies and providing patient-centric treatments. This new initiative will undoubtedly benefit patients by enhancing clinical care and improving outcomes."

Aortic disease encompasses conditions affecting the aorta, the body's largest artery, which is responsible for delivering oxygen-rich blood to various organs, including the brain, liver, and kidneys. Common aortic diseases include aortic aneurysms, aortic dissections, and obstructive lesions, which, if left untreated, can pose severe health risks. These conditions can be congenital, genetic, or acquired later in life.

Anil Vinayak emphasised the importance of early detection, noting, "In India, 300,000 to 400,000 individuals experience aortic disorders annually, yet only around 1,000 receive specialised treatment. Early diagnosis is critical, with a success rate exceeding 95 per cent. Fortis is dedicated to advancing healthcare, and the new Aorta Centre reflects our commitment to innovation and medical excellence."

Dr Shiv Choudhary, Director of the Aorta Centre at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, highlighted the rising incidence of aortic diseases due to lifestyle factors and genetics. "Lifestyle diseases like high blood pressure and atherosclerosis account for over 75 per cent of aortic aneurysms and dissections. Though these conditions carry high morbidity and mortality, early diagnosis and comprehensive treatment offer promising outcomes," Dr Choudhary stated.
