India’s First Gastro AI Academy Launched In Mumbai

The academy, supported by FUJIFILM India as an educational partner, seeks to empower GI physicians and surgeons with the latest AI-driven technologies to enhance patient care.

In a groundbreaking development for the healthcare sector, eminent gastroenterologists in India have launched the nation’s first Gastro AI Academy, an initiative aimed at transforming education and training in the field of Gastroenterology through the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The academy, supported by FUJIFILM India as an educational partner, seeks to empower GI physicians and surgeons with the latest AI-driven technologies to enhance patient care.

The inaugural session of the academy was held at HN Reliance Hospital in Mumbai, featuring a series of discussions and lectures led by both international and national gastroenterology experts. The sessions delved into the practical applications of AI in Gastroenterology, including patient reporting, database management, and predictive analysis. Special focus was placed on AI's role in diagnostic assistance and treatment planning, particularly in the early detection of gastric and colon cancers.

Dr. Amit Maydeo, Chairman at the Institute of Gastrosciences at HN Reliance Hospital, emphasized the transformative impact of AI in Gastroenterology: “The field of Gastroenterology has continuously evolved with innovations and technologies that have significantly improved patient care. Artificial Intelligence represents a major leap forward, offering immense possibilities for enhancing clinical outcomes. The Gastro AI Academy aims to equip our young gastroenterologists with the tools and knowledge necessary to be future-ready.”

Dr. Rajkumar Wadhwa, a renowned gastroenterologist from Apollo Hospital, Mysore, added, “Indian gastroenterologists have made significant contributions to the diagnosis and treatment of GI diseases. With the support of global AI experts, this academy will provide crucial insights into the integration of AI in Gastroenterology, helping to declutter existing data and highlight relevant future possibilities.”
