In an effort to combat the widespread issue of iron deficiency anaemia (IDA) among women in India, P&G Health India has launched the ‘12 Ka Naara’ campaign in collaboration with the Federation of Obstetric and Gynecological Societies of India (FOGSI).
In a press statement on Tuesday, the company informed that the initiative aims to highlight the importance of maintaining an optimal haemoglobin (Hb) level of 12 through early detection, treatment, and supplementation.
According to the National Family Health Survey (NHFS-5), 57 per cent of women in India suffer from anaemia, with many cases going undetected until they become severe. The ‘12 Ka Naara’ campaign is designed to address this gap by offering free haemoglobin testing and expert health guidance in 21 cities across 13 states. The campaign also focuses on community education to raise awareness about the importance of early intervention and the risks associated with untreated anaemia.
Milind Thatte, Managing Director of Procter & Gamble Health Limited, emphasised the urgency of addressing anaemia, stating, "With anaemia affecting such a large segment of our population, promoting early detection and timely intervention is crucial. The ‘12 Ka Naara’ campaign is a continuation of our commitment to empower women with the tools they need to manage their health proactively."
Dr. Jaydeep Tank, President of FOGSI, added, “Iron deficiency anaemia is one of the most common nutritional deficiencies in India. We are proud to partner with P&G Health once again for this large-scale effort to educate people about the importance of maintaining healthy haemoglobin levels and ensuring timely medical intervention.”
