Philips India & Star Imaging Launch India's First MRI Training School

This initiative is part of Philips' broader efforts to enhance the skills and expertise of healthcare professionals in India

Philips, a leader in health technology, has partnered with Star Imaging, Pune, to launch India's first MRI Training School.

In a press statement on Monday, the company said that this pioneering initiative aims to provide radiologists with international standard training in MRI technologies across 17 sub-specialties.

The curriculum, designed by Ashish Atre, Chief Radiologist at Star Imaging and Research Center, in collaboration with Philips, offers a comprehensive two-week residential program. The program includes advanced theoretical knowledge and practical training focusing on organ-based sub-specialty reporting. Participants engage in hands-on training, application training, clinical case study discussions, and workflow observation across multiple anatomies such as Head and Neck, Musculoskeletal, Body, and Neuro.

Brajesh Singh, Imaging Leader of Philips Indian Subcontinent, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership: “Our collaboration with Star Imaging to provide international standard MR training in India reflects Philips’ commitment to empowering Indian clinicians with the latest technological advancements. This initiative will upskill clinicians, enabling them to excel in organ-based reporting, ensuring accurate diagnosis and improved patient outcomes. The Indian healthcare market is moving towards super-specialisation due to the high disease burden, and this training initiative is a testament to Philips’ dedication to enhancing clinical expertise.”

Ashish Atre highlighted the significance of the program stating, “The MRI Training School offers an unparalleled learning experience for both budding and experienced radiologists. The curriculum aligns with international standards and is a significant step towards continuously upskilling healthcare professionals. The program aims to cover every MR speciality in-depth, providing new perspectives and discussing clinical-radiological correlations.”

This initiative is part of Philips' broader efforts to enhance the skills and expertise of healthcare professionals in India. In July 2023, Philips partnered with Narayana Institute of Cardiac Sciences (NICS) to establish the ELiTE program, the first dedicated Centre of Excellence for Echo training in the country. Accredited by the Karnataka Medical Council and endorsed by the Indian Academy of Echocardiography, Karnataka, the ELiTE program offers extensive hands-on training led by national faculties using Philips ultrasound systems, the company added.
