Teledermatology & Personalised Care Propel Indian Skincare Market Growth: Clinikally Report

The report highlights an exponential rise in teledermatology, with 76 per cent of consumers preferring remote dermatological consultations over in-person visits, especially in Tier-II and Tier-III cities

The Indian skincare industry continues to thrive, driven by rapid urbanization and growing awareness of skincare routines. Clinikally, a trusted e-pharmacy platform specializing in skincare, haircare, and wellness, has unveiled its latest Telehealth/Teledermatology Industry Trends Report for 2024. The report provides critical insights into evolving personal care habits, preferences, and the rising demand for innovative products and services.

The report highlights an exponential rise in teledermatology, with 76 per cent of consumers preferring remote dermatological consultations over in-person visits, especially in Tier-II and Tier-III cities. Clinikally’s virtual dermatology consultations have grown nearly fourfold since 2020, fueled by its AI-driven, high-resolution imaging tools. This trend underscores the importance of investing in specialised telehealth platforms to meet the growing demand.

The elderly population, particularly those aged 40 and above, are increasingly adopting telecare solutions, with a 55 per cent growth in Clinikally’s elderly telecare services reported this year. These trends are more pronounced in underserved regions, demonstrating the critical need for expanded telecare offerings in smaller cities and rural areas.

The report indicates a growing consumer preference for clinically validated skincare solutions. Prescription-based treatments are gaining popularity over over-the-counter products, reflecting the demand for transparency, efficacy, and dermatologist-recommended solutions.

Ingredient awareness is shaping consumer choices, with ingredients like hyaluronic acid and ceramides maintaining a steady demand for hydration and skin barrier repair. Seasonal variations also play a significant role—niacinamide surges in popularity during summer for its soothing properties, while antifungal products gain traction during monsoons.

Consumer shopping behaviour reveals that personal care purchases peak in the mornings for essentials and evenings for luxury products. Approximately 70 per cent of purchases occur via smartphones, prompting Clinikally to optimise its mobile platform to enhance the user experience.

“As the skincare industry continues to evolve, our latest report highlights the shift toward personalised, clinically-backed solutions. The rise of teledermatology and AI-powered diagnostics reflects our commitment to providing holistic solutions that empower consumers to make informed choices,” said Arjun Soin, Founder of Clinikally.

The future of skincare is poised for significant advancements, with regenerative medicine and exosomes expected to transform skin and hair care. A minimalist, holistic approach to beauty routines is set to dominate while anti-ageing and blemish-free products will remain at the forefront of consumer demand.
