Upcoming Women Speciality Hospital Motherhood Becomes Official Health Partner in 7th Pinkathon

Motherhood Hospitals, India’s fastest-growing network of women and children’s hospital, collaborated with the national capital’s much-awaited breast cancer awareness run Pinkathon by becoming their official health partner for the event. Pinkathon, a multi-city run which celebrated its seventh edition today, is the biggest organized running event for women in India and encouraged them to adopt better lifestyle measures to curb many health-related issues.

Breast cancer is currently the most common cancer among Indian women, both in terms of incidence as well as mortality, with proportional prevalence in younger age-groups being higher than the global average. The government has already laid down four priority cancers -- breast cancer, cervical cancer, oral cancer, and lung cancer which together constitute 41 per cent of cancer burden.

“We are happy to join hands with the prestigious Pinkathon event. As a growing network of women and children’s hospital, we completely understand the importance of fitness in managing much prevalent lifestyle-related health conditions in women. It is a unique initiative which works with one simple underlying theme – empowered women will, by example, inspire and empower other women! It encourages women from all walks of life and all age groups and socio-economic background, who have probably never participated in a sporting event before, to take their first steps to a healthier life” said Mr Vijayarathna V, CEO, Motherhood Hospitals.

Providing the first-aid assistance to the participants of the various categories of run in Pinkathon, Motherhood ambulances along with a team of medical professionals including doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff were stationed at various points on the running route to handle any medical emergency. Health desks were also set up, where registered participants collected their running kits and check their BMI/BP and blood sugar levels so that they know their vitals before running and can improve themselves and get fit for the run.
