2nd Fit India Conclave, Community Health Awareness Program

MedScape India presented 2nd Fit India Conclave 2019 with support of the Ministry of AYUSH, Ministry of Health, Ministry of External Affairs, NITI Ayog, Government of India on 30th June 2019 in New Delhi.  

Swami Chidanand Saraswati, President and spiritual head of the Parmarth Niketan Ashram, a Spiritual institution based in Rishikesh, India believes ‘If health is not well, nothing is well’ and praised the initiative with his words, “Fit India is Hit India.” 

Talking about health, Swami Saraswati said, “Health is mainly believed to be physical but now it’s time to stay mentally healthy as well.” An individual is sound and healthy, when he is physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually fit.

In 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the UN to declare 21st June as International Day of Yoga and now the world is thankful for his initiatives as it has spread throughout the globe. To this Swami Saraswati adds, “Yoga is not only what you do, but it also makes you who you are.”

Another concern that has been haunting people in India is the water crisis but during Swami Saraswati’s talk, he encouraged the doctors and hospitals to install sewage treatment plants (STPS) to purify water which could be used as drinking water to tackle the crisis. Swami Chidanand said, “In Rishikesh, STPs are used to purify water by keeping the minerals intact.” 

Lastly, Swami Saraswati added, “In order to empower our future, we need to change our lifestyle and turn back to our roots.”
