Antara Senior Care, a subsidiary of the USD 5 billion Max Group, has inaugurated its first senior care home in Bengaluru.
In a press statement on Thursday, the company said that this launch marks a significant milestone in Antara’s expansion into South India, following its successful impact on over 60,000 seniors in North India.
The new facility, located in Bannerghatta, offers a comprehensive range of services tailored to the elderly, including assisted living and transitional care. The care home has a capacity of 83 beds and provides primary healthcare, emergency response services, curated engagement activities, and nutritionally balanced meals, all within a homely environment.
As the demand for specialised senior care grows in India, driven by an aging population, increased life expectancy, and a rising middle class, Bengaluru is emerging as a key hub for geriatric care. Antara's expansion into the city follows the positive reception of its Care at Home services, which launched last year in Bengaluru and Chennai.
Rajit Mehta, MD & CEO of Antara Senior Care, emphasised the importance of scaling up senior care services in response to India's demographic shifts. "The senior care industry is evolving rapidly as our nation's demographics change. By the mid-2050s, it's expected that there will be more people over 65 than under 15. At Antara, we are committed to creating a comprehensive care ecosystem that ensures a dignified and fulfilling life for seniors while elevating the standard of senior care in India," Mehta stated.
Ishaan Khanna, CEO of Antara Assisted Care Services, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the completion of Antara’s continuum of care in Bengaluru. "We are thrilled to offer all our services in Bengaluru now. Seniors have already responded overwhelmingly well to our Care at Home services, and with the opening of our care home, Antara fulfils its promise to provide comprehensive care for all seniors in Bengaluru," Khanna said.
