Fortis Bannerghatta Road Performs Karnataka's First Edwards Sapien 3 Ultra Valve Replacement

Fortis Hospital Bannerghatta Road performed Karnataka's first Edwards Sapien 3 Ultra Valve Replacement Surgery, dramatically improving the life of a 75-year-old patient from Mizoram. The hospital in a press statement on Wednesday informed that the patient, Vanlalzaunga, who had been wheelchair-bound for four months, was able to walk unassisted just four hours after the procedure.

Under the expert care of Dr Srinivas Prasad BV, Senior Consultant in Interventional Cardiology at Fortis Hospital, the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure was completed in just 45 minutes. This groundbreaking surgery marks a significant advancement in treating aortic valve stenosis, a condition Vanlalzaunga has been battling since 2011.

Despite seeking treatment at multiple hospitals and receiving various medical management, Vanlalzaunga's condition continued to deteriorate, leaving him with limited mobility.
