Business France India hosted the 2024 edition of the Indo-French Healthcare Conference at the Embassy of France, bringing together healthcare professionals, medical experts, and industry leaders from India and France. Organised in collaboration with the French Institute in India (IFI) and the Medical Technology Association of India (MTaI), this event highlighted the synergies between the two nations' healthcare sectors. The conference was inaugurated by the Ambassador of France to India, H.E. Mr. Thierry Mathou, alongside chief guest Dr. Vinod K. Paul, member of NITI Aayog.
Dr Paul emphasised the importance of Indo-French partnerships in healthcare and explored new avenues for collaboration, particularly in innovation and frontier technologies such as artificial intelligence. The event featured 85 attendees and was supported by key organisations such as the Indo-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IFCCI), CEFIPRA, Invest India, the French Healthcare Association, and APHP.
The conference aimed to facilitate dialogue and foster cooperation between Indian and French healthcare firms. France’s healthcare system is renowned for universal coverage and high-quality medical care, while India’s rapidly growing healthcare sector offers tremendous opportunities for investment and collaboration. Discussions covered emerging opportunities in India's healthcare landscape, areas for joint R&D, and innovations in pharma and biotech.
During the event, Pavan Choudary, Chairman of MTaI, remarked, “France has been a pioneer in MedTech inventions like the stethoscope and X-rays. India’s healthcare providers excel in healing. This conference fittingly brought together French MedTech & R&D organisations and top Indian hospitals to explore opportunities in manufacturing, innovation, and skill development.”
H.E. Thierry Mathou reaffirmed France’s dedication to advancing Indo-French healthcare cooperation, stating, “France remains a global leader in healthcare, with cutting-edge research and outstanding training. This complements India’s dynamic healthcare landscape, and together, we can push forward innovations that benefit both countries.”
The conference covered a variety of topics, including innovations in MedTech, skill development in healthcare, and global transformations in medical technology. Participants included prominent companies like 2PS, Inlog S.A.S, Dagard, F2D Medical, Peters Surgical, Vygon, and BioMérieux, all showcasing their cutting-edge solutions for healthcare challenges.
