HealthCare Stocks Surge, BSE Healthcare Index Gains 0.53 Per Cent

Healthcare stocks showed strong performance today, with the BSE Healthcare index rising by 235.3 points, or 0.53 per cent, to reach 44,864.03 as of 09:46 IST. The index saw notable gains across several key companies.

Among the top performers in the BSE Healthcare index were Wockhardt Ltd, which surged 5 per cent, followed by FDC, up by 4.57 per cent. Poly Medicure gained 3.47 per cent, while J B Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd and Morepen Laboratories Ltd rose by 3.4 per cent and 3.06 per cent, respectively.

Other significant gainers included Vijaya Diagnostic Centre Ltd, up by 2.88 per cent, Solara Active Pharma Sciences Ltd, up by 2.83 per cent, and Supriya Lifescience which advanced by 2.53 per cent. Ajanta Pharma Ltd gained 2.5 per cent, and Alembic Pharmaceuticals was up by 2.17 per cent.

However, some stocks faced a decline. Themis Medicare dropped by 1.94 per cent, Strides Pharma Science was down by 1.27 per cent, and Gufic BioSciences slipped by 1.13 per cent.

At the same time, broader market indices also showed positive movement. The BSE SmallCap index increased by 411.44 points or 0.73 per cent, reaching 57,043.82. The BSE 150 MidCap index rose by 61.01 points or 0.36 per cent, closing at 16,794.59.

Meanwhile, the Nifty 50 index was up by 29.6 points or 0.12 per cent to 25,157.55, while the BSE Sensex index climbed by 44.91 points or 0.05 per cent, reaching 82,017.96.

As of 09:46 IST, 1,921 shares were trading in green, 1,211 were in red, and 133 remained unchanged on the BSE, reflecting mixed sentiment in the broader market.
