Jindal IVF, an institute in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) and In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF), has achieved a significant milestone with the successful delivery of a baby following complex fertility challenges involving obstructive azoospermia and a high-risk pregnancy.
The case involved a 35-year-old woman and her husband, diagnosed with obstructive azoospermia. After an initial consideration of Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) with donor sperm, the couple pursued IVF using the husband’s sperm. The medical team utilised Percutaneous Epididymal Sperm Aspiration (PESA) to retrieve sperm, followed by Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) to fertilise the eggs.
Led by Dr. Sheetal Jindal, Senior Consultant and IVF-PGT Specialist, the procedure resulted in the transfer of a single embryo. Unexpectedly, this embryo split, resulting in Monochorionic Diamniotic (MCDA) twins, a high-risk condition requiring specialised care.
The pregnancy faced complications, including Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS). The medical team intervened with cord coagulation on one twin to protect the other. After close monitoring, the pregnancy reached 34 weeks, culminating in the successful delivery of a healthy baby.
“This case highlights the advancements in reproductive medicine and our commitment to personalised care,” said Dr. Sheetal Jindal. The couple expressed gratitude to the Jindal IVF team for their expertise and dedication.
