NPPA Sets Retail Prices For 51 Critical Drugs

The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has set ceiling prices for 51 drug formulations, including medications such as Sitagliptin, Pioglitazone, and Metformin Hydrochloride (Sustained Released) Tablets used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus, the drugs price regulator's latest order revealed released on September 15. 

Additionally, Levosulpiride + Pantoprazole, which falls under the category of gastrointestinal agents used to treat conditions like gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), acidity, indigestion, heartburn, and peptic ulcers, has also had its price-regulated by the authority. 

Furthermore, the combined cost of Rosuvastatin and Clopidogrel Capsules, a combination medication aimed at preventing heart attacks, has been fixed by the pricing authority at Rs 18.95. While the price for Cefuroxime Axetil (500mg) and potassium Clavulanate (125mg) has been capped at Rs 55.23.

Recently, the NPPA also revised the ceiling price for the drugs Piperacillin(2gm) and Tazobactum(250mg) along with Piperacillin(4gm) and Tazobactum(500mg) based on the decision of its 116th authority meeting.
