To adopt newer and advanced technology for diagnostics, BLK Super Specialty Hospital today introduced South Asia’s First Signa Artist Wide Bore 96 Channel Digital MRI system. This advanced technology delivers a new level of clinical performance with additional research-focused capabilities, especially for Neurology, Cardiology, Orthopaedics and Oncology.
The new MRI system has a wider bore(opening) of 70 CM as compared to earlier 60 CM bore wide MRI machines. The additional 10 CM bore might ease patient’s concerns regarding anxiety with tight space and hence reduces claustrophobia.
The machine is also equipped with a glass which plays songs, YouTube videos, movies, etc., to further reduce the fear in the minds of patients caused by the idea of going inside the MRI machines. Also, Feet first scanning is available for all body parts and that helps in making the procedure less claustrophobic for many patients as the upper part of the body will still be out of the machine.
The newer technology as claimed by Dr Prem Kumar Ganesan, Director and HOD, Radiology and Imaging, BLK Super Speciality Hospital will significantly reduce the time taken for a normal brain scan. “A brain scan with the Magic sequence can be done in five minutes which would have otherwise taken at least 20 minutes”, he said.
“As a standard biomarker in oncology diffusion imaging plays a critical role in cancer detection and staging, the whole-body diffusion can be done in 20 minutes which is a major achievement. Also, SIGNA Artist uses intelligent quantitative solutions to automatically detect and correct distortion, artefacts and motion,” Prem further added.
To make the whole experience better and generating better results, the machine reportedly also has features like less noise inside it, advances in imaging with Tractography and advanced Functional Imagining.
“The spatial and temporal resolution of Signa Artist is amazing providing much clearer and sharper images thereby increasing the confidence of the radiologist in making a correct and accurate diagnosis”, added Dr Ganesan.
Also, as claimed by Dr Ganesan, BLK hospital will provide the MRI scan with Signa Artist MRI at similar charges it used to charge for using its predecessor.
Announcing the launch, Dr Sanjay Mehta, Head, Medical Services, BLK Super Specialty Hospital said, “Over the years, we have been adopting new components of people, process and technology in our model to emerge in the new healthcare ecosystem.”
Acknowledging the need of the hour, Dr Mehta said, “To provide high-quality clinical outcomes to match the growing demand for quality healthcare in the country, we are adopting new technologies which are purely for clinical use. Newer X-rays, MRI, Robots, Radiation or Minimal invasive surgeries etc are technologies which enhance clinical outcomes. With the launch of the most advanced MRI system, the Hospital reinforces its commitment to provide the best-in-class services to the people.”
