MediBuddy, India's largest digital healthcare platform, marks a transformative year in 2024, impacting the lives of over 1.27 crore Indians and showcasing the nation’s growing shift towards digital healthcare solutions. Insights from the platform reveal fascinating trends in how Indians approach healthcare, underscoring the evolution of healthcare accessibility and priorities in the country.

A key revelation is the emphasis on family health dynamics in Indian households. Of all healthcare bookings, 40 per cent are made for family and friends, demonstrating the role of digital platforms in empowering individuals to prioritise the well-being of their loved ones. Within this, 44 per cent of bookings are for parents, showcasing the younger generation's active participation in their care. Spousal health accounts for 33 per cent of the bookings, emphasising strong partner support, while 11 per cent focus on children’s health needs.

The report highlights a shift in healthcare-seeking behaviour, with 37 per cent of online consultations occurring after 6 PM. This growing demand for round-the-clock, high-quality healthcare reflects the need for flexible care solutions that cater to busy, modern lifestyles, transcending traditional office hours.

Gastroenterology, paediatrics, and dermatology emerge as the top specialities accessed through MediBuddy. The rising awareness of digestive health sees many turn to gastroenterologists for support, while parents frequently rely on paediatricians to navigate their children’s growth and health. Dermatology also stands out, with a surge in consultations for skin-related issues such as acne and general skincare needs.

MediBuddy’s commitment to sustainability also delivers remarkable results. By switching to digital reports, the platform saves the equivalent of 1,195 trees, capable of absorbing approximately 30,000 kg of CO2 annually. Moreover, the transition to online consultations prevents 2.75 million kg of CO2 emissions, underscoring how digital healthcare contributes to a healthier planet.

In 2024, MediBuddy’s phlebotomists travelled a staggering 80 lakh kilometres to deliver home sample collection services—equivalent to travelling from Kashmir to Kanyakumari 2,192 times. Of particular significance, 25 per cent of these dedicated professionals are women, exemplifying their empowerment and the expertise driving MediBuddy’s mission of accessible care.
