Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, in collaboration with the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society, successfully hosted a two-day Movement Disorders Skills Workshop. The event combined expert lectures, hands-on training, live demonstrations, and case discussions to equip participants with advanced skills in diagnosing and treating movement disorders.
Renowned expert Professor Raymond Rosales from Manila, Philippines, served as the guest faculty, adding global insights to the comprehensive program. The workshop opened with sessions on the anatomy and clinical techniques for muscle localisation, followed by cadaveric muscle localisation and ultrasonographic guidance for targeting neck, upper, and lower limb muscles.
Dr. Sanjay Pandey, Head of Neurology and Stroke Medicine at Amrita Hospital, remarked, “The highlight of the first day was the ultrasonographic localisation session, complemented by case presentations and interactive discussions on clinical approaches.”
The formal inauguration ceremony was attended by Dr. Sanjeev Singh, Medical Director at Amrita Hospital, who underscored the hospital’s dedication to advancing medical education. “This workshop reflects our commitment to equipping healthcare professionals with cutting-edge skills to improve the lives of patients with movement disorders,” he stated.
The second day of the workshop delved into botulinum toxin therapy and hyperkinetic movement disorders such as blepharospasm, cervical dystonia, and hemifacial spasm. It also covered deep brain stimulation (DBS), including patient selection, surgical procedures, and advancements in DBS technology.
The event concluded with a live DBS programming session for a Parkinson’s disease patient, providing participants with practical insights into advanced treatment techniques.
