Columbia Asia Hospital organized an orthopaedic camp on Sunday at Mahagun Puram Society in the area to address the various questions related to bone and joint problems and offering screening tests to ensure better bone health.
Dr Ashutosh Jha, Consultant Orthopedic at the Columbia Asia Hospital, Ghaziabad, offered free consultation at the camp to be held at Mahagun Puram Society from 10 AM to 1 PM. Around 100 attendees took bone mineral density (BMD) test and a physiotherapy session for free. A bone mineral density test uses X-rays to measure the number of minerals such as calcium in your bones and is important for people who are at risk for osteoporosis, especially women and older adults.
“Bone health across the board is deteriorating because people are not careful about the status of their bone quality and come to us only when a fracture or injury has already taken place. This leaves us with a window to provide curative treatment only and robs us of the opportunity to provide preventive treatment. Many of these people do not take screening tests because they are either unaware or negligent. The idea of the camp is to make people aware of the importance of screening tests such as bone mineral density that is acknowledged globally as one of the most effective means to test bone health. Besides, we will also help people with physiotherapy-oriented exercises which can be useful for people already suffering from joint pains,” says Dr Ashutosh Jha, Consultant Orthopedic, Columbia Asia Hospital, Ghaziabad.
