HP Ghosh Hospital Launches Innovative "Chest Tree" For Comprehensive Respiratory Care

HP Ghosh Hospital in Saltlake, Kolkata,  unveiled its latest initiative, the "Chest Tree," a unique representation of the hospital’s extensive respiratory care services. 

In a press statement on Thursday, the hospital administration informed that the unveiling event was attended by notable figures including Somnath Bhattacharya, CEO of HP Ghosh Hospital, and leading respiratory specialists Dr Ansuman Mukhopadhyay, Dr Sumit Sengupta, Dr Sanghabrata Sur, and Dr Pinaki Bandyopadhyay, Medical Superintendent.

The Chest Tree visually represents the various respiratory conditions treated at HP Ghosh Hospital, such as COPD, asthma, tuberculosis, lung cancer, respiratory allergies, sleep disorders, pulmonary hypertension, and smoking cessation. Each branch of the tree represents a specific area of expertise, making it easy for patients to understand the comprehensive services available, the press statement noted.

Somnath Bhattacharya highlighted the hospital’s advanced respiratory care technology, including CT scans, bronchoscopy, endobronchial ultrasound, thoracoscopy, and cutting-edge PCR and rapid culture systems for respiratory microbiology. He also mentioned the hospital's multidisciplinary speciality clinics, such as Kolkata’s first Multidisciplinary ILD Clinic and the city's first Lung Cancer Screening Programme. The hospital provides 24/7 respiratory intensive care with consultant cover, daily outpatient departments (OPDs) in respiratory medicine, day care assessments for elderly and disabled patients, and out-of-hours consultant respiratory clinics, ensuring top-notch care and convenience for patients.

Dr. Anshuman Mukhopadhyay, Senior Consultant, praised the Chest Tree as a groundbreaking initiative that visually encapsulates their dedication to comprehensive respiratory care. He emphasized the hospital's DRTB Clinic, which offers treatment for drug-resistant tuberculosis, and asthma management programs designed to help patients lead symptom-free lives.

Dr Sumit Sengupta, Senior Consultant, highlighted the importance of the Chest Tree in showcasing the hospital’s wide array of services and commitment to patient-centred care, particularly for chronic conditions like pulmonary hypertension and COPD.

Dr Sanghabrata Sur, Consultant, explained the specialised care provided by the ILD Clinic for interstitial lung disease and praised the Chest Tree initiative for simplifying the patient's journey by clearly mapping out the various services and expertise available at the hospital.
