In the direction to promote traditional Indian medicine, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation stone for the Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI) in Rohini, New Delhi. Terming it “Ayurveda’s next big leap,” the Prime Minister highlighted the Government's commitment to making healthcare accessible to all, especially the underprivileged, and advancing the AYUSH and Ayurveda systems globally.

As per the media reports, addressing the virtual ceremony, PM Modi underscored the expansion of the AYUSH system to over 100 countries in the past decade. He also lauded India’s strides in traditional medicine, including the establishment of the first World Health Organisation (WHO) institution related to traditional medicine and the inauguration of the second phase of the All India Institute of Ayurveda. “India has immense potential to become the world's health and wellness capital,” he stated, adding that “Heal in India” will soon resonate globally alongside the “Make in India” initiative.

To facilitate foreign nationals seeking AYUSH treatments in India, a special AYUSH visa category has been introduced, benefiting hundreds within a short span, the Prime Minister noted.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH, Prataprao Jadhav, expressed gratitude to PM Modi, emphasizing the transformative potential of the new facility in advancing Ayurvedic research and delivering quality healthcare.

The ceremony saw the presence of dignitaries including Yogender Chandolia, MP from North West Delhi, and Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of AYUSH. Chandolia called the new institute and the recently inaugurated metro line in Rohini “gifts” from the government to the people of Delhi, underscoring their long-term benefits.

Vaidya Kotecha praised the monumental achievement of acquiring dedicated space for CARI after 46 years, which he said sets a benchmark for future developments in Ayurvedic research and healthcare.
