Fulfilling the promise to bring Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission in the country, announced in the year 2020 on the eve of Independence Day from the Red Fort, today Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the initiative via video conference.
Addressing the event, PM Modi called the mission to be a revolutionary development and said that the seven-year-long efforts to strengthen healthcare institutions and their facilities are now going to enter a new phase. “Today we are launching a mission that has the potential of bringing a revolutionary change in India’s health facilities”, the Prime Minister stated.
According to the Prime Minister, the mission will enhance citizen’s ease of living as Ayushman Bharat – Digital Mission will now help in connecting the digital health facilities of hospitals across the country with each other. With this mission, every citizen will get a digital health ID card, that will include every medical, health, lab report, hospitalization history details of the patients, that can enable future access to long health records and can be shared by the doctors with their consent, ensuring a paperless facility. The major element of ABDM includes a health ID - unique 14-digit health identification for every citizen that is also going to serve as their health account. All the details provided by the patients will be kept confidential.
PM Modi in his address primarily focused on the daily problems of the poor and middle-class families who face various difficulties while getting health check-ups done and ensured that this new mission will be playing a great role in resolving such problems and will empower the common population with the help of digital technology that will enable them to connect with health experts from all across the country. The health services providers will also be getting new opportunities for ease of doing business through Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.
The Prime Minister stated that India is developing a holistic and inclusive health paradigm. A model that emphasises preventive healthcare along with affordable and accessible treatment to cure any kind of disease.
With this it was the last day of the four-day long event, that was organized to celebrate the Arogya Manthan-third anniversary of Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY. On 23rd September, the inaugural session of the event, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya had launched key initiatives by the National Health Authority, including the Hospital Help Desk Kiosk, Beneficiary Facilitation Agency, PMJAY Command Centre & Nudge Unit and Revamped PM-JAY technology platform, to make it easier for beneficiaries to access healthcare services under the scheme.
