Global Hospital Initiates CPR Training For Mumbai Police Personnel To Tackle Rising Cardiac Emergencies

In response to the escalating cardiovascular disease (CVD) crisis in India, Global Hospitals in Parel, Mumbai, conducted a hands-on CPR training session at Matunga Police Station. Approximately 25 police officials participated in the one-hour training session, aimed at arming them with life-saving skills to effectively respond to cardiac emergencies.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a vital technique used to revive individuals whose hearts have stopped beating. The training involved imparting knowledge on chest compressions and rescue breaths, essential for circulating oxygenated blood during emergencies such as cardiac arrest, drowning, or choking. Immediate initiation of CPR significantly enhances the chances of survival, emphasising the critical importance of timely intervention.

Dr Sameer Pagad, Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, highlighted the significance of CPR training, stating, "CPR equips individuals with the knowledge and confidence to provide immediate assistance during sudden cardiac arrests, a crucial skill that can make the difference between life and death."

Under the initiative "Mumbai ka Dil, Humara Bharosa," Global Hospitals is dedicated to ensuring every individual possesses life-saving CPR skills. Driven by the mission to create a safer Mumbai, the hospital aims to empower the community with essential knowledge for effective emergency response.

Dr Vivek Talaulikar, COO, of IHH Healthcare India, commended Global Hospital's proactive approach, emphasising that by training police personnel in CPR, the hospital is fostering a culture of preparedness and collective responsibility towards public health. As more individuals become proficient in administering CPR, communities become safer and more resilient, he added.
