Need For Infrastructural Growth: Post Pandemic Lessons

Healthcare infrastructure is the need of the hour. People today are relying on technology-based medical services during the pandemic. In this regard, health experts had a discussion about how to tackle problems that might be arising due to low infrastructural quality.

Dr DK Gupta, MD, Felix Hospital states, “We have a population of 1.35 billion people. Out of this, 70 per cent of the population resides in rural areas. Around 70 to 80 per cent of healthcare infrastructure is confined to Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities only.”

Dr Vivek Desai, Founder and MD, HOSMAC says, “If your inputs are correct then the money goes quickly into the private players' hands.” The government has seen how 'sound healthcare infrastructure' is absolutely necessary.

Dr Preet Pal Thakur, Co-Founder, Glamyo Health states, “Glamyo Health essentially helps in utilising the existing or the better utilisation of the existing infrastructure.”

There are hospitals which are understaffed and there aren’t enough beds. Dr Vijay Mishra, Founder and CEO, AHO Healthcare underlines, “All the bigger cities have all the facilities. Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities are not that well established in terms of healthcare infrastructure.”

On a conclusive note it can be said that training modules are very essential in today’s health infrastructure. There is a huge gap in metro cities when compared to smaller cities.
