My Child First is an Information and education outreach platform for reproductive health, bringing together multiple opinions, options and aspects of pregnancy, birth and parenting.
Preconception, pregnancy and early years are a vulnerable time for the little human. First 1000 days lays the foundation of physical and mental wellbeing. Unfortunately, we have reduced reproduction to a medical event and fear is prevalent across all strata of society making this a survival story affecting the health of humanity.
My Child First’s vision is to bring tools and resources to a large population so that parents can experience their reproductive journey as joyful and transformative.
“My Child First puts together the relevant information in byte (bite) sized portions and makes it available to the consumer to be taken in at their own pace. We also added layered and paced resources and support so that the consumer may be able to integrate the information and make informed choices. It chose video, human face and common language to express the information. These videos are less than 5 minutes and our customers can deepen their knowledge at their own pace. It also have relevant research papers to back the information,” Divya Deswal, Co-Founder, My Child First.
My Child First offers a three tiered approach to support to-be and new parents on their parenthood journey.
“Our first step is to bring awareness to the different aspects that play a vital role in a healthy conception and pregnancy, choices for birth and early infancy. Our platform mychildfirst.com brings together many specialists and health care providers to offer in-depth information of the different aspects of reproductive health. These range from medical to lifestyle to philosophical. This offers a larger picture of the birth of a baby than a medical narrative. Secondly, we also offer many interactions with our consumers in the shape of webinars and classes on a variety of subjects, through our e-learning platform Birth Bonds (elearning.birthbonds.com), which supports deeper understanding. Human contact and attention are key elements to facilitate learning and decision making. Finally we offer one on one consults for clients who have special circumstances and need more support,” added Divya Deswal.
In the current social setup, expectant and young parents are looking for information and resources. Considering the social change and fast paced life, more and more people are looking at the internet for information. While this may be an excellent resource, many consumers find themselves overwhelmed. The speed and volume of content is difficult to integrate. Much of the content may be technical, incomplete or inaccurate. A lot of content may be personal experience or opinion. Meaning may be lost in cultural nuancing and language syntax.
And most importantly all this information is taken in as a one way transmission. The organisation knows that human interaction is the substratum of connection and safety that enhances learning leading to proactive response and positive experience. The number of opinions, contradicting views, lack of discussion, leaves the consumer with a very fragmented picture, confused and uncertain. This creates a paradigm of fear.
“We bring different voices on the same platform to highlight the different facets and approaches while supporting our customers to make choices that work well with their needs. As a natural next step we open avenues of interaction. Online classes for those who want to get more information, Webinars on specific topics, Q & A sessions.
Other than being a platform for quality information, we also are mindful of the learning pathways and human/social element,” Tanvi Sharma, Co-Founder, My Child First.
